I can't say I know anyone that lives in one and I'm sure you have your reasons for choosing that particular truck as a project but I can't help thinking you possibly should have done some research first. Main reason being that parts for them are few and far between and the ones you can get are ridiculously expensive and VERY thin on the ground.
If you have no mechanical knowledge, you need to find an old school HGV mechanic who will be honest with you and not have your pants down. If it's mechanically sound, the conversion to living is easy but in my limited experience horseboxes are renown for being run down, abused and generally unloved.
My advice? Forget the solar thing for now, save your money and pay someone to make sure the oily bits are in good shape first. get a fresh MOT so you know it's actually road legal and THEN start your conversion.
This is of course, just my two penneth. No offence intended, do with it as you wish.
Please keep us posted,
Regards, Rob.

Yeah I wish I did a lot more research but I have done gear box change now. I had plating when I bought it, it's just taken a long time to get sorted. Chassis is fine, running gear looks ok and it even started in the snow. I live on solar so it's necessity for me. Thanks! Simon

I must add I don't have zero experience but I'm not a mechanic. I've restored lister engines and worked on a bus I used to own along with the transit van but I just don't have the huge experience of others. Simon
