Hi to everyone on here. I'm Martin, a classic car restorer in Weybridge.
am ashamed to say that I have had my 0813 Cargo beavertail recovery for 10 years now, and didn't know this club existed until now !!! Also have hardly done any work on My truck since I've owned it, she's parked up at the side of the road mostly. She had 281,000 KMs on it when I bought it, and I have just rolled over 300,000KMs this last weekend !!
I now have decided to bite the bullet and restore the old gal to her former glory, as I am frightened to hit the brakes too hard in case the cab just falls off with Me in it !!! She is seriously rotten, and cab is beyond repair. I am very lucky to have tracked down a reasonable cab with perfect floors and only minor holes here and there, for £325, including a radiator and another spare wheel and perfect tyre.
Does anyone out there have a windscreen scuttle panel in steel? I want to restore the cab properly to original spec. and strengthh, so would appreciate any help with getting hold of one of these. Plus, the replacement cab has been mostly stripped out, but I will double up on some things so will have a few items left over for sale. Please ask---
Mine managed the 55 mile trip to collect the cab with no problems at all, but on the way home, after pulling up at Fleet Services for a bite to eat, she overheated big time and burped out all of her coolant all over the car park ! Any ideas Weak waterpump? sticky thermostats ?
I would be more than happy to meet up with any other local owners fr a chat or any helpl I can offer with restoration/welding work etc--- so I look forward to a few replies from you lot !!! Forgot to say, My registration is H979YYS, she was originally Heathrow airside recovery, then lived in Cornwall until coming back up to Surrey with Me 10 years ago.
