If you have ever done drum brakes on a car your half way there. I watched someone take one of mine off last week and was surprised how easy it was. I just don't have the tools for the job. If your brakes are crap, check the fluid reservoirs first. Mine (1013) has two on the drivers side chassis leg. I'd start there.
Regards, Rob.

The brakes on my 0813 aren’t great, it’s just the way they are. I’ve driven a lot of trucks over the years, your braking distance is huge even in a 7.5 ton. If you’re new to driving these and you’re expecting it to stop like a car does, it won’t.

I thought the same thing as the OP and it's a good job I had mine checked as one of the pots was empty causing only the top brake cylinder to work. Bled it through and the LSV was leaking.
If yours aren't great either Alex, I'd suggest you get yours checked as well!
