Hello folks, new member to the Cargo Club. Just put new batteries on our 813 (horsebox), Sunday did a round trip of 66 miles turned the engine off to unload a friends horse, no more than 5 minutes later went to start it a all I got was the sound as if the batteries were flat, fortunately I was on a bit of a slope, released the brake rolled no more than a couple of yards turned the key and she fired up so, is the problem the starter motor?

Did you get to the bottom of this? Did you just get a click or did the engine turn too slow to fire? The basics are true of any diesel, it has to turn fast enough to get compression, and fire. Check the battery terminals and the starter cables are tight. did you check the charge rate?

Hi. What Fred said! I had exactly the same thing on my box, it would just click when I turned the key. Put new batteries on only to find it didn't help. Check the battery connections as they are bolted on to the cable and can work loose.
Hope you get it sorted.
Rob.
