Superb news matey!! Forgot Truckfest was on last weekend - I only live down the road. . .DOH!!!! AFAIK, 3828TS was made from early 1988 right through to the latter part of 1992 when production at Langley of the old Cargo ceased. I could be wrong though and only have a Ford Tractor Unit brochure from 1988. The 3828 was a poor seller all round, but the TS was even more so. I would say, you probably aren't far off owning the only ones left!?! Do you know of any more around? I'll give you a call later and have a chat mate! Cheers, Stuart.

does anyone know how long 6x2 were made ive been told they was only manufactured for 2 years 88-90 is this correct? Since you first posted that Alan, I have been considering it quite a bit as something tells me you could well be right on that one!?! Anyway, I trawled around 'Uk Trucknet' tonight and found this post on one of the many 'Cargo' threads started by the MOD of this Forum: Posted by Knowitall on UKTN: " B.J. Myers Haulage of Greenwich, South London had three Cargo 38 ton six wheel tractors in late 1989, one F reg and two G reg. Running alongside a fleet (40-odd) Iveco's they were put in service as a low tare weight tractor. Unfortunately the 10 litre Cummins 290 used to blow up rather too often, unlike the same engine in the ERF. In the Ford, it was said the expansion tanks were too small allowing the engine to overheat. The F Reg truck was one of two prototypes and given to Myers firstly on demo, before joining their fleet. The vehicles all suffered blown engines at least twice in their first year, and were taken back by Iveco Ford and replaced with Turbostars. Ask any driver who remembers them, they were very smart, metallic Burgundy and Silver, but hopelessly underpowered and poor to sleep it, unless you were vertically challenged!" Seems for some reason, the TS units may have suffered from expansion tank problems, leading to blown engines!?? How though, could they be any different forward of the mid-axle?? I don't recall ever hearing any such problems with the engines fitted to tippers or 4x2 units??? Why would the TS be any different I wonder and was this a reason why Iveco axed them in 1990, 2 years prior to whole production ceasing???

Ha Ha I know what you mean, when I worked as a driver for a local company Stobart undercut all the transport companies in the area for deliveries, and when these transport companies were struggling he told them they could come on board with Stobarts if they painted their trucks in his colours, unfortunately work was pretty scarce and lots of small transport companies went to the wall and Stobart sucked up what was left and gave them crap wages, In this area ( Cumbria) the drivers who worked for stobarts were nicknamed "Cabbages" due to the colour scheme of their work clothes and trucks, I know there are hundreds of people who adore Stobarts but Eddie done for lots of good companies up here, bloody sad really.

Alf As an Agency Driver my attitude to Stobart is neutral these days, but I am fully aware of what went on in the past to get to where they are today. Personally, I will take a week's work with Stobart's over similar with Wincanton or DHL. Stobart's want blood, but with less 'hoop jumping'! Wincanton or DHL take things to extremes and are just drowning in red tape and bullshat when it comes to Health & Safety, assessments etc, etc. With Stobart's you just get your keys and work instructions for the day and your off out the yard to get on with it. Stobart's have a fluffy public image these days and they have to keep a reasonably low profile as such, but Wincanton just want reams of paperwork signing and a hour's walk around the truck before you go out as they are so scared witless of VOSA. After 20 years Agency work I am now desperate to ditch driving and find a new 'career' and just have my 3828 as a last will and testament to the 'good ole' days'. . . . ;D That Stobart Cargo must have been to the moon and back and it is amazing it still survives Alan - what sort of condition is the engine in and what sort of mileage does it have on it?? The ad in Classic & Vintage Commercials mag said "it runs and drives ok" and I see it was painted red back in the advert I have of it (August 2010). Who painted it blue???

the engine starts very well and runs as sweet as a nut the gears select well and moves as it should with no weird noises anyway had 575000 on clock but well dont no if this is right. the cab was the biggest problem went to tip cab with cab pump all it done was push the floor up ooops but well this wasnt a surprise as whole cab didnt look very well .the blue paint well has been burgundy and been brush painted blue (certainly not by picasso)but well wasnt bothered about cab as had good one on another chassis just requiring a minimum ammount of welding on cab floor but all the spotwelds are still there on cab that can be seen so this is a big plus. if anybody has a air filter box any metal cooling pipes for l10 cummins and a drivers side mat please contact

All the metal cooling pipes etc, were on it as I recall. I had to replace some of the rubber hoses on mine and I used that ultra-flexi stuff, though it's fookin' expensive!! I got a quote from Cummins for the steel aftercooler pipe that runs from top to bottom on the engine (o/s) and the price was very scary!!! I just rubbed my old one down with emery cloth and primed and painted it.
