Well, due to the ridiculous rules regarding retro-fitment of speed limiters, she today failed her MOT as one has not been fitted. This means that National Grid somehow managed to get it through 6 MOT's on the hop (legal requirement to retrofit one commenced 1/1/05). I was partially aware of this; but interpreted the rules as being for vehicles of 12001> ULW. It seems it's not done on ULW but GDW (Gross Design Weight). So, I am now faced with a probable £1k bill for retro-fitment of a limiter as the rules that came in, in 2002 state that all vehicles over 12001 kgs GDW registered from 1/1/88 require a speed limiter to be fitted by 1/1/05. She'll now just be laid up indefinately, until I find out why VOSA let it through SIX times without reason!!! What a Ba5tard!!!. I am sure I have seen retro fit speed limiters on e bay recently. I will keep an eye out for any ads for one, what a bloody shame eh, these regulations are stupid, It may be worth contacting the National Grid, and having a chat with their fleet Manager, Alf

Thanks Alf - I've been using her now and again as a daily runabout these last few weeks, I love it that much! Turning up at your local Tesco certainly raises a few eyebrows ;D Will be snugly tucked up for Winter now though, before the dreaded salt appears on the roads. If mine looked that good I would wrap it in cotton wool ha ha, I know what you mean about the salt on the roads, it rots the cab in no time, I have to keep mine outside as my garage isnt high enough to accomodate it . Ive just bought a couple of secondhand curtain sides to cover her up for the winter. Well take care and look after it. Alf

You never finish a restoration, it's like painting the Forth Bridge, ha ha!! Superb job, the Cummins enamel really does set the engine off well. Hopefully, a few days to enjoy it before road salt appears!

Looks very nice you are a man of my own heart, I see you've made a nice detailing job of the engine bay. I hate it when you see an engine covered head to foot in paint covering pipes and filters etc like tractors it just looks crap. you are welcome to pop up to Scotland and do the same to mine if you get fed up . You would be supplied with free tea and biccies ha ha. Well done looks great. Alf
