Hi,
Very new to the trucking business; drove my first Cargo about three weeks ago whilst looking to buy a second hand horsebox. I was really impressed with the drive quality; how smooth it was etc etc. Just love That 6 Cyl engine.
Anyway have now bought one having tried several different types and the Cargo is the one for us.
It's an F reg 0913 and I have a few questions and probably a whole host more to come. It has been re plated as a 7.5 tonne so even I can drive it ha ha.
1) Struggling to understand what the 09 in the 0913 stands for; is it a 9 tonner as opposed to the 7.5 Tonne of the 0813?
2) It needs a respray and have been quoted in the order of £1500; the whole rig is 23 ft long including the box. Is this a reasonable price? Is there anyone in particular you would recommend to carry out such work? We live in the Hinckley area in Leicestershire so someone fairly local would make sense.
3) Steering is a little vague in the straight on position needing slight constant correction. What would be the first/simplest things to check?
4) Could do with two replacement wings before the respray; rest of cab is really good as is the main body of the horsebox. Where best to find these? or would you not bother just welding in some new metal to replace the rotten parts?
Any advice very welcome; thanks for the site could be very interesting as I get more into this game.

Hi, the 09** means either 9 or 10 tonner, it might also been on 8 wheel nuts not 6 like the 08** i think it will also be on 9.5 17.5 tyres which arnt cheap to replace my 815 is on 9.5 17.5 and i know the tyre garge well and to me they were £110 + fitting.
The price for the respray sounds good to me i have been quoted £900 just for the cab to be done.
The steering, get one side jacked up and get a grease gun and do the top of the king pin and bottom then do the other side, if you can get under the cab there is also a grease nipple on the uj as it come down from the cab to just above the bumper on the steering bar. also check you tyre pressures i know both of mine do need constanted correction not alot just little bits.
There is a company who still do the rear wings you might need to do a search on google to find them, if thay arnt to bad it may be worth just reparing.
Hope this help.
James

We live in the Hinckley area in Leicestershire so someone fairly local would make sense. Not far from me then. Any chance I can pop over and have a look at this Cargo, maybe get some pictures? Andy B

James many many thanks for the very useful advice; will try out your suggestions. Luckily by the sounds of it all tyres are nearly new.
Andy, No problems coming to have a look; be really pleased to gain as much knowledge as possible. Can I e-mail you direct?
