Hi! need to ask you one thing, i need to change an oil seal at the rear axle, it is leaking oil in to the brake drum on my 1517 from 1981, it is as you know air to hydraulic brakes, so i need to release air brake from the brake oil reservoir to release press on drum? and how to? or i`m i completely wrong... hope you have the time to help, and a repair manual would be prfekt, no one in the car when i bought it, mail to vagan-maskin@hotmail.no if someone info in pdf ect. thank you

Hi Again,
Sorry I don't have a Manual covering your particular model, but to release the brakes you would need to undo the checknuts and wind the rods back that come out of the air chambers, jack the wheel off the ground and wind back the rods until the wheel turns free, I would count the turns as it will be easier to set the brakes back up when the jobs done.

Yes the spring attaches to a bracket on the axle and the unit is bolted to the chassis, when the weight pushes the chassis down the spring (that is at full tension) looses tension and allows the arm to move upwards causing more fluid to be allowed to the rear brakes.
Hope this helps

Thank you Alf, try to call, but system did not alowed to cal, (it is possible i did not call the right numbers from norway anyhow, i dont see any brake shoes for sale, been searching quite alot on internett, and i find linings, but then i dont know if any company can change linings? not in norway i belive. and you know aboute the trouble with oil seal leakage, does the youter hub seal need to be? it is only for oil not to leak out from the hub? is it just the inner seal who stop oil for getting to the brakes?, hope you understand my question
